Before the upcoming match against Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad received unfortunate news. During a press conference, head coach Daniel Vettori announced that Travis Head has tested positive for COVID-19, which has delayed his return to India. However, it remains unclear when and where he contracted the virus.
On Monday, Lucknow Super Giants will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 61st match of IPL 2025. In the press conference, Vettori mentioned that Head is expected to arrive in India on Monday morning. Following his arrival, the team's medical staff will assess his health.
Due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the IPL was postponed, prompting Travis Head and Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins to return to Australia. After their departure, it was uncertain whether they would return, especially with both players scheduled to participate in the World Test Championship starting June 11.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad has confirmed that Head and Cummins will rejoin the team for the remaining matches. The Hyderabad squad has already been eliminated from playoff contention and will play their final league match on May 25, allowing them ample time to prepare for the WTC.
